FoxyTunes Planet – Web of music at your fingertips search site for artists. It aggregates information like lyrics, videos, album info from Amazon and other useful info.
Picnik
A very simple and good online photo editor. The easiest and intuitive online photo editor I’ve seen. It’s developed in Flash and, for that, is as fast as an desktop photo editor. It has some simple edit options for the photos with more coming soon. The best part however is that it supports editing photos from you computer, flickr account, from any web address, yahoo and flickr search.
So… what can you do with picnik? You can rotate, crop, resize your pictures. You can also adjust the exposure and colors or sharpen the photo. Also, it provides some special effects you can apply to any image, such as: Black and White, Sepia, Boost, Matte and others.
The application is under development and will add more features soon. You can give it a try here.
YM and meebo

De ceva timp Yahoo Messenger merge foarte prost (deconectari dese), mai ocupa si o groaza de memorie si nici nu prea am nevoie de toate feature-urile inutile pe care le tot adauga. Si astfel, l-am lasat sa zaca undeva intr-un coltisor de harddisk (lenea ma impiedica sa il dezinstalez) si folosesc meebo. Este mult mai misto, este simplu si isi face treaba, si mai ales history-ul care si-l tine la ei pe servere este foarte practic daca ai nevoie sa recitesti conversatii mai vechi oriunde ai fi.
Deci pentru cei care au, la fel ca mine, probleme cu YM eu recomand meebo.
Drumul catre rss reader-ul perfect

Am inceput cu Thunderbird ca rss reader, am incercat RSSOwl si RSS Bandit, apoi un plugin pentru Firefox numit Sage. Nu m-au convins, mai mult pentru ca erau desktop based si nu puteam sincroniza usor feed-urile pe cele 2 calculatoare (cel de acasa si cel de la munca).
Am trecut mai apoi la rss readere online. Am inceput cu Bloglines pe care l-am abandonat foarte repede, adica dupa cateva ore de folosinta, am continuat cu Rojo si Google Reader(la care nu m-a atras deloc interfata veche si nu am putut sa il folosesc), iar mai apoi m-am intors la Bloglines cu care am ramas cateva luni, pana cand a aparut Newshutch care mi s-a parut foarte foarte bun, simplu si util.
Odata cu redesign-ul Google Reader i-am mai dat o sansa si guess what… a devenit default reader. Este foarte bun, rapid, si simplu de utilizat. Ce mi-as dori ca enhancement ar fi search pe posturi. Aaa… si inca ceva, posibilitatea de bookmark pentru posturi (configurabila pentru cele mai folosite servicii de acest fel). In rest este cel mai bun reader pe care l-am folosit si voi continua sa il folosesc, iar noul feature trends este absolut genial.
P.S. Ar mai fi un minus pentru google reader, dar care pe mine nu ma afecteaza chiar asa de mult, nu pot vedea embedded video dintr-un post.

Google a anuntat la OSCON lansarea unui nou serviciu de hosting pentru proiectele open source numit Google Code – Project Hosting care rivalizeaza cu binecunoscutul SourceForge.net. Proiectele sunt organizate prin tag-uri si includ utilitare de feedback si issue tracking. Pot fi host-uite proiecte de maxim 100MB iar ca sistem de versionare se foloseste SubVersion-ul.

I’ve just seen this. When you search something in google, if you are logged in and you have a notebook account, you have the posibility to “Note This” on search results. Very usefull little feature.
Comment tracking

A couple of days ago, a new service launched Commentful. It is a direct competitor to coComment and co.comment. I have tried all this services and I have to say that commentful is my choice.
About Commentful, I like it, it’s fast, simple and get the job done. I’ve used it and I’m pleased. And the firefox extension that they offer works great in Flock also. I have to say that I’ve become addicted with this one.
coComment didn’t interest me because you can subscribe only on posts you comment and new comments are shown only if the user has a coComment account also.
co.comment is also very nice, but I don’t like the social part. Don’t get me wrong, I am a great fan of social stuff but I think that a little option to have private conversations in the watch list would be nice.
For now I’ll stick to Commentful, I find it excellent.
Picasa Web Albums

Tocmai am primit un invite la Picasa Web Albums. E interesant, simplu, elegant asa cum google ne-a obisnuit. Are optiune de a lista un album in Public Gallery sau nu. Citeam azi un post despre securitatea acestui nou serviciu. Tipul era foarte intrigat de ce totusi, dupa ce alegi ca un album sa nu il faci public, daca adaugi la linkul listei tale de albume publice numele unui album private, el o sa se deschida si poti sa ii vezi continutul.
Ce am observat eu este ca optiunile sunt cam in felul urmator:
Public – Display this album in my public gallery
Unlisted – Do not display this album in my public gallery
Dupa cum se poate observa, google nu zice nimic de albume private in adevaratul sens al cuvantului, doar unlisted, care nu apare in lista “my public galery”. Eu nu stiu ce sa cred, sincer nu prea imi convine, ar fi trebuit sa aibe si un mod private. Adica totusi, sunt unele poze care ar trebui sa ramana private dar care as vrea sa le am undeva stocate pe un server pentru a le accesa de oriunde.
Alt punct destul de slab, spatiul de stocare, mi se pare prea putin 250MB la account-ul free. Are totusi optiune de upgrade la 6GB pentru 25$/an.
In rest, in combinatie cu Picasa, pe care il consider un soft destul de bun si de robust pentru managementul de poze, este un tool destul de folositor. Download-ul unui album se face direct in picasa, acest lucru are si avantaje si dezavantaje(cum ar fi daca esti un utilizator care nu are Picasa instalat 
). Upload-ul de poze se poate face direct din picasa sau din interfata web.
Avand in vedere ca este un release de test, limitat, eu zic ca este un inceput foarte bun, si astept noile features, printre care sper eu si optiunea de a face un album private like in PRIVATE .
